A BIG THANK YOU to the school community of parents, sponsors, teachers, admin and most importantly… the children who enjoyed it.
Thank you to all of our hard working committee volunteers who all took a very active participating role on the day with a special mention to Nicole O'Brien our P & C secretary who was Joint Fete co-ordinator with me this year.
Nicole is expecting her third baby in October which did not slow her down one bit. She was responsible for the fantastic sponsorship and promotion of this year's event as well as being a major sponsor through her company Get IT Happening.
Another dynamic duo that makes things happen is the Dawn & Tara Team from Outside School Hours Care - the Pirate Cave Scavenger Hunt was very well received with the funds from this going towards the new OSHC building that will be ready for next year.
Fireworks we wanted and Fireworks we got - thank you to our Major Sponsor for the day, SHEN THERAPIES for this very generous donation. The Ripcord Skydivers made the day and only possible due to our sponsors, Steel-Line Garage Doors Sumner Park, Rolscar Smash Repairs - Taaffe Family & Rolscar Tyre & Mechanical.
We also had wonderful donations and sponsorships from the following businesses:

Continuing thanks go to everyone who has ever helped me and the school through a Fete year, and especially to those who are leaving us this year. Your support has been the back bone of our great successes and while we wish you the best in your high school P & C ventures, we also know that the great new families who stepped up this year will fill the void.
As usual the BBQ, Bar, Fairy Floss/Snocones did their major contributions. We bid farewell though to Anderson & Schultz family on the BBQ and Brett Provan on the Bar as high school beckons next year. Thank you guys for your stalwart support over many fetes.
Popular again was Pizza by night under the experienced hands of Kellie Taaffe & Wendy Gibson, always a sell out and Glow Products by our resident Disco Queen, Karen Hook.
The Side Show Alley & Bottle Stall in the hands of the Ruzic & Stevens families continue to grow each year. Their experience is showing with great turnover and happy faces.
The Raffle Stall was run by the Stallard & Willimott Families with the added assistance of the Brown family who have left the school but still managed to get dragged back in. Another family in this situation was the Harkins family - associated now with the Centenary High School Rowing Club. Glen continues to develop his skills in the PA/Sound department at our events.
Thank you to the Centenary High School Rowing Club who came to our rescue providing tea & coffee on the oval in the afternoon when our Coffee Van provider decided not to appear.
Hope you also managed to catch up with the Guides Stall and the fantastic Interactive Drumming Display whom we thank for coming along.
Coloured Hair and Face Painting was like never before under the guidance of our new conveners, The Girle & Robertson families. They tell me hard work was never so fun. (Check out some great photos of the face painting fun!)
Haunted House was ever popular with Mr Wendt & Mr Graham having to go in and rescue a couple of daring mums that couldn't find their way out. The record funds raised from the Haunted House will be going to the Visually Impaired Unit this year. Well done lads.
Mrs Hawkswell's previous experience in running the Hall Cafe showed & Mrs Chadwick joined her in Coffee & Cake Heaven.
Drinks Stall was a sell out having to be restocked several times. Thank you to the Bruinsma family ably supported by Mrs Bateman.
In the Undercover area of the tuckshop there was a fantastic array of cakes and goodies. The joint conveners of the Cake Stall Kerstin Rheinlander & Nicky Phillips-Duff (special thanks for coming on board so late) besides cooking up a storm themselves were overcome with the donations on the day from parents which sees their turnover with a new record beating the previous $1500 best.
Gwenda Stevens our Craft Convener as well as Mother's Day & Father's Day each year worked her fingers to the bone to ensure we had a huge variety of great items. The turnouts at the pre fete craft nights were terrific and a lot of fun was had by all. Look out for Father's Day in September.
But the winner of the day in terms of increased turnover from previous years was the Asian themed Tuckshop in the care of our Convener Maryanne Foreman and her wonderful team of regular tuckshop volunteers. Previous best was $1100 turned into a new best turnover of $2400. This did not happen without a host of wonderful families cooking up a storm of curries and sushi and many other treats for the day.
Signs by Trev as well as donating to the fete, was a new stall this year that proved to be very popular. Look out for the one off car stickers with flair.
What a difference having two great MC's makes to the day. Thank you to Mr Jennings & to the Kerr/Knight family for their wonderful informative voices. We honestly wouldn't have had such a great atmosphere with out your enthusiastic Microphoning but once again Nicole O’Brien provided a great script to run from. She also organised all the music for the day from her extensive collection.
The weather was wonderful and a great time was had by all at our World Food Fair.
It just shows you that a little effort from a lot of people turn a long labourious task into small fun jobs, making the whole day a greater success.
Unfortunately I have no space left which is lucky as I don't know if I could stop there was so much to tell and so many to thank. Final Figures will be released after the next P & C Meeting in August. Funds have been earmarked for upgrades to the school front entrance and shade/rain cover for the children while awaiting collection by parents. Plans have been drawn up and now we can begin stage one of this project - as long as we can get someone to quote us and commit to the work that is. SO IF YOU WANT THE WORK, LET US KNOW NOW!
This is my final year at Jamboree Heights and therefore my final fete. I have enjoyed the fantastic associations of the many parents that have made it easier for me in relation to the organisation of the last 4 fetes and one circus.
I look forward to attending the next one as an onlooker getting to enjoy the food, activities and social atmosphere that makes a great fete. Well done Jamboree & Goodbye.
